The Spire
The Spire is a famous landmark of Dublin and is officially called 'Monument of Light'. The building is 121 meters tall and is standing in the middle of the O'Connel Street since 2003. At night, the building is glowing on the top.
O'Connell Monument
The statue is 12 meters tall. You can find this statue at the end of the O'Connell Street and it was drafted in the year 1882 by John Henry Foley. The person this statue is representing is the former politician Daniel O'Connell, who fought for the independence of Ireland.
General Post Office
The General Post Office is the most remarkable building on the O'Connell Street and it was completed in year 1818. On a historical view this building is something very special, because there took the declaration of independence for Ireland its place. It was heavily damaged in the World War II and today it is almost a complete reconstruction of the former building. Inside of the building you can find the post office of Dublin and a small museum.
Trinity College "Old Library"
The 'Old Library' is located in the Trinity College Dublin and it has got over 200.000 valuable books, which are sorted in a lot of bookshelves. The most valuable book is the 'Book of Kells', which is exhibit in an exclusive room.
Guinness Storehouse
You can learn the history of the ruby-red beer in the Guinness Storehouse. After that you can buy many articles in the Shop, for example T-Shirts. You can also buy the Guinness there. The best thing of the Guinness Storehouse is the fact, that you get a free drink when buying a ticket.
Howth
In former times, Howth was a fishing village and today it is one of the most popular excursion destination for locals. You can get there very easy through Dublins Area Rapid Transit (DART). There you can find many restaurants which are selling fish and chips. In Howth you can visit the historical Howth Castle, which you can only inspect if you sign in a tourist sightseeing tour.
Anchor B&B
The Anchor B&B Guesthouse is one of the most beautiful B&B's I have ever seen before. You can find the B&B near the city centre and it is just a few minutes away from a lot of interesting sights. The interior is excellence and well furnished.
Cliffs of Moher
The Cliffs of Moher are located near the south-west coast of Ireland and they are the most famous Cliffs of Ireland. There is a 1.4 meter high wall, which protects the visitor for falling down the cliffs. The Path is round about 200m long and after that you can explore the Cliffs at one's own peril.
Barack Obama Plaza / Moneygall
Barack Obama visited in the year 2011 Moneygall. Moneygall got only 300 inhabitants and they did not forget Obamas stay there and today you can find there many buildings and places, which got the Obama cult. For example the roadhouse Obama Plaza.
Custom House
The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government of Ireland is located in the Custom House today. In former times it was used as a normal Custom House. This building was buid from 1781 to 1791 and is located near the Liffey.
Dockers Sculpture
This sculpture is located on the other side of the Famine Memorial and Liffey. The statue shows a dock worker who is trying to get an anchor out of the water.
Famine Memorial
The Famine Memorial was build in year 1997 in tribute to the great starvation in Ireland (1845 - 1852) and is located near the shore of Liffey. It is a counterpart to the memorial in Toronto.
